Youth Theatre
Our youth theatre is now in its fourth year and was predominately
set up for
young people in north Liverpool. Now, due to the group's success and
increasing demand CE:YT is welcoming people from all over Liverpool. If
you are aged 14 - 25 and want to create work deeply rooted in your
common experiences then get in touch. Recent projects have included a
three-month programme of acting masterclasses with companies like 20
Stories High, Spike Theatre, Big
Wow, Playback and Liverpool
Comedy Trust. The masterclass programme was funded by the Youth
Opportunities Fund. The
youth theatre is free and meets every Tuesday night at Liverpool Hope
University. Contact Anna or Brian for more information be e mailing

Our new Youth Theatre Director,
Brian Morgan talks about his introductory sessions with the
group……
11th August 2010: We
started creating our new show this week. We are exploring mental
illness within youth culture. We are working with multi-media. We
started off the process by creating characters and looking at the
overall design of the piece. We also were lucky enough to get
Crystalise (a spoken word and rap artist) to come in and give a
masterclass. This was fantastic. We are hoping to have a work in
progress 'sharing' later on in the year. We are still looking to
increase our numbers so if you are interested in joining please get in
touch 0151 291 3887 or brian@collective-encounters.org.
29th July 2010: Danny
Zefferali came in to teach Circus Skills with the group this week. We
ran the session outside and it started to rain! Everyone took part in
learning to juggle some strange objects and I managed to stay longest
on the tight rope! Sammy looked like road runner on the uni-cycle, but
not many of us managed to master that contraption. Big well done to the
group who took on the circus challenge! Alongside the skills
development we are looking at mental health and young people, creating
characters and playing around with images. x
29th June 2010: My 1st
session with CEYT and I had a great time, hope they did! We started off
with concentration games and then went on to play SPLAT. I was
absolutely hopeless, but I will come back to conquer! When we played
the rhythm game I was really, really impressed with their skills and
enthusiasm. The throw themselves into it, giving 100%. We talked at
length about the type of work they would like to do and the issues they
would like to talk about. Really interestingly stress and mental health
kept reoccurring during the discussions. We also looked at creating
images these issues and the word ‘fantasy’. Great starting
point. They all seem really keen to get new people on board, and have
offered to help and get involved. I think this is great. So open. They
are a great bunch. Scheduled in some more master classes in circus
skills, technical theatre and spoken word RAP. Here's to next week...
